| Technology Breakthrough for eRTG--1st Auto Drive-In system with global patented technology deployed in SCT |

On August 6th, Shekou Container Terminals (SCT) and Conductix-Wampfler AG jointly held the Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Project Achievement Conference and announced the official launch of their joint development of the Worldwide Innovative Auto Drive-in Device for E-RTGTM, which has been successfully used to overcome transit bottleneck. Guests from the Water Transport Department of Communication Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Shenzhen Communication Bureau, Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, China Merchants Technology Group as well as shareholders from China Merchant International Holdings and Modern Terminals Limited (MTL) attended the conference to witness the exciting and remarkable achievements of the eRTG project.
 The Auto Drive-in Device is an advanced, internationally patented product capable of solving many manual operation and security problems. It allows for all-weather ERTG automatic transition, shortens the transition time from an average of 15 minutes to 3 - 4 minutes, and greatly enhances efficiency and equipment utilization. SCT has already formed solutions for complete electric conversion of terminal RTGs.
Since 2006, SCT has been converting RTGs, becoming one of the leaders in this field. At present, SCT has 70 units of eRTGs and has converted 46 hectares (over 70% of the terminal area). With more than 86% of the facility powered by electricity, annual diesel oil consumption is reduced by more than 3,118 tons and carbon monoxide emissions is reduced by 9,884 tons, equivalent to a 95% emissions reduction per unit. The electric conversion also reduced noise by 70-80 decibels and improved energy utilization by over 50%. The use of eRTGs, which has reduced costs by 70%, is a win-win situation both socially and economically, setting a good example for the implementation of SCT’s “Energy reduction, green terminals" policy. It is a significant milestone of substantial development.
Conference guests included Singapore SPA, Dachan Bay Terminal, Guangzhou South China Oceangate Container  Terminal, China Merchants International Terminals Daxie Ningbo Port, Zhanjiang Container Terminal, Yingkou Container Terminal, China Merchant Port and CONDUCTIX，and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES). Following the conference, the guests attended an RTG Electric Conversion Technology Workshop and had an in-depth discussion on related issues.
